We at NUAN believe in the Non Union Actor!
As actors we have the ability to change and entertain our entire society one perspective at a time.
On stages all around the country, actors assume personalities that move people, inspire them and change the
way we perceive the world for the better. What a beautiful culture we are as a collective whole! We are an extraordinary
breed that practices the art of expression and communication from the most abstract ideas to the most realistic.
We use our unique gift and skill to fall fully into the life and time of another being and wield the words of scripts both
ancient and modern to create the magical experience that is theatre!
We all belong to an industry that is a true "Gesamkunstwerk" (Total Art Work), combining all other forms of art into one unified
vehicle of expression. Thanks to our foremothers and fathers, our industry had its first great expansion at the turn of the last century.
Regional theatres we all know so well today were just little seedlings hoping to grow to form a vital theatre community in their area.
NUAN is hoping to begin the next level of this expansion. With strong regional presence in the country’s biggest cities, the time has come to empower the actors who perform there. In every place performance exists, you can find the non union actor. We truly are the thru-line in our vast industry.
By bringing the powerful players of the nation’s stages together, we will create a platform where new creative ideas can be
exchanged and previously unknown talent can be discovered…as well as forming a community of support for one another.
This should not only increase the audience size in every theatre where a NUAN member performs, but should also increase
the level of performance as acting techniques are shared and integrated into those performances. Those who have not heard of Uta
Hagen, will hear of her. Those who have a hard time keeping up with the people they know and inviting them to their shows will now have a way.
Those just entering the industry or a new city who have no idea where to go or what to do, will find guidance in one another and in NUAN.
At NUAN we believe we each have all the resources necessary to live an abundant life. NUAN is a way to exchange those resources nationally.
If we all come together, there is truly no limit to what we can do!
